US stock market opens higher

NEW YORK (AA) – The stock market opened higher on Wednesday after President-elect Donald Trump’s comments.

The Dow added 27 points to begin the day at 19,972 and making another historic run to reach the psychologic barrier of 20,000 points.

The S&P 500 was up two points at 2,271. The Nasdaq rose 10 points to start trading at 5,498.

“The world was gloomy before I won – there was no hope. Now the market is up nearly 10% and Christmas spending is over a trillion dollars!,” Trump wrote in his Twitter account on Tuesday.

President-elect plans to increase the U.S.’ infrastructure spending and lower corporate taxes, after he takes office on Jan. 20, which are expected to boost American economic growth.

With such expectations, investors are taking a buying position in the stock market, according to experts.
