US: Clinton medical records declare her ‘fit to serve’

NEW YORK (AA) – Hillary Clinton is “healthy and fit to serve as President of the United States”, according to medical records released Wednesday by her presidential campaign.

Clinton’s personal physician, Dr. Lisa Bardack, said in a letter that accompanied the records, that her patient was “recovering well with antibiotics and rest” after she fell ill Sunday during a 9/11 memorial service at ground zero.

Her campaign said Clinton has “mild, non-contagious bacterial pneumonia”, and is being treated with an antibiotic called Levaquin, prescribed for 10 days.

She will return to the campaign trail Thursday, her campaign added.

Clinton’s medical report comes out on the same day as her Republican rival, Donald Trump, recorded an interview with Dr. Mehmet Oz, which will be aired Thursday and will feature the candidate’s “very specific” medical details.

Trump, 70, and Clinton, who turns 69 next month, are among the oldest presidential candidates in American history.

A president Trump would be the oldest ever, and Clinton would come in at second place after Ronald Reagan.

Health speculations were kindled last week when Clinton trailed off into a coughing attack during her first press conference in nearly nine months.

On Sunday, Bardack revealed Clinton was diagnosed last Friday with pneumonia — which the doctor said partly explained her early exit from the 9/11 commemoration ceremony in New York City.

“I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely,” Bardack added at the time.

On the other hand, the only information made public so far regarding Trump’s medical condition has been a four-paragraph note by his doctor, Harold Bornstein, who said he would be “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency”.

Bornstein and Trump came under fire last month after the doctor revealed that the note was written in five minutes while a limousine sent by the candidate waited outside Bornstein’s Manhattan office.
