WASHINGTON (AA) – At least one person was injured at an Illinois High School on Wednesday before authorities took a suspected shooter into custody.
Mattoon Community Unit School District 2 confirmed the casualty at Mattoon High School on its Facebook page. The extent and nature of the injury is unknown
All buildings at the high school are on a “soft lockdown”, the school district said.
Students have been bussed to a nearby school.
The suspect was able to fire off several shots before being apprehended, according to local media reports.
