WASHINGTON (AA) – “Multiple casualties ” have been confirmed after a gunman opened fire at a synagogue in the state of Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The shooting occurred at the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh at around 10 a.m. local time (1400GMT), according to reports.
Pittsburgh police said the suspect in the shooting is in custody.
“We have multiple casualties inside the synagogue. We have three officers who have been shot, ” said a police spokesperson. “And at this time we have no more information because we are trying to clear the building and trying to figure out if the situation is safe. ”
U.S. President Donald Trump said law enforcement officials were on the scene.
“People in Squirrel Hill area should remain sheltered. Looks like multiple fatalities. Beware of active shooter. God Bless All! ” said Trump on Twitter.
