ADEN, Yemen (AA) – At least 45 people were killed and 60 others wounded in a suspected suicide car bomb attack in Yemen’s southern Aden city Monday, according to Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

According to initial reports, a bomber rammed his explosives-laden vehicle into a building of pro-government forces in northern Aden at a time when they were having their breakfast.

In a post on one of the organization’s official social media accounts (@msf_yemen), the organization tweeted: “@MSF Hospital in Aden received 45 dead and at least 60 wounded from #Aug29 morning explosion #Yemen.”

Monday’s attack was swiftly claimed by the Daesh terrorist group.

In a statement cited by the group’s Amaq news agency, Daesh said 60 people had been killed in the attack.

Yemen has been ravaged by civil war since late 2014, when Houthi rebels overran capital Sanaa and a number of other provinces, forcing the government of President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi to flee to Saudi Arabia.
