UPDATES WITH DEATH TOLL IN FRANCE

ROME (AA) – Fresh cases of coronavirus were reported on Monday across Europe, raising concerns about public health.

At least 52 people have died in Italy from the virus, officially known as COVID-19, with 1,1835 cases confirmed so far in the country, according to the head of Italy's Civil Protection department, Angelo Borelli.

Borelli said there were 18 new deaths — 15 in Lombardy and 3 in the Emilia-Romagna region.

He added that 149 people were recovered after being tested positive.

Greece reported three new cases over the weekend, with the total number of cases reaching seven.

France confirmed 191 coronavirus cases on Sunday evening.

Some 116 of the reported ill were hospitalized, nine of those in serious clinical situations. Previously, 12 cases had been cured, whereas three people died from the virus.

In Paris, the Louvre Museum remained closed, whereas the Paris half-marathon, set to take place Sunday, was also cancelled.

Russia reported a new case of the virus on Monday.

A tourist returning from Italy was found to have a mild form of the infection, said the emergency team formed to control and monitor the situation around coronavirus.

This was the third case in Russia and first infected Russian, as the two previous patients had been Chinese nationals living in Russia. They were treated and dismissed from the hospital.

Germany now has 129 confirmed cases and Spain has 83.

The U.K. reported 36 confirmed cases in the country, Switzerland 24, Norway 19, Sweden 14, Austria 14 and the Netherlands 13.

There are 2,199 confirmed cases across Europe according to the agency, with the total death toll rising to 38.

Iceland has confirmed three new cases, all of them recently having visited northern Italy.

According to Thierry Breton, the EU internal market commissioner, Europe's tourism revenues fell by €1 billion ($1.1 billion) per month since the start of the outbreak.
