ISTANBUL (AA) – Police on Tuesday arrested 10 suspects during nationwide anti-drug operations, according to a security source.

According to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to media, six suspects were apprehended in an anti-drug operation in the southern province of Adana.

The police — aided by sniffer dogs — conducted simultaneous raids at 10 addresses across the city.

During the operation, six suspects were detained on charges of drug trafficking.

The suspects were later sent to a police department.

In northwestern province of Bursa, two alleged drug traffickers were held during simultaneous operations in Yesilcami and Selcuk neigbourhoods of Iznik district.

A court in the province later remanded the suspects.

Another two suspects were nabbed in eastern province of Van and western province of Izmir.

In Van, over 55 kilograms (121 pounds) of heroin and more than 8,000 smuggled cigarettes were seized during the operation.
