Ukraine expands trade sanctions against Russia

By Ali Cura</p> <p>KIEV (AA) – Ukraine on Wednesday expanded economic sanctions against Russia, the country’s economic minister said on Wednesday.</p> <p>Stepan Kubiv, Ukraine’s first deputy prime minister and minister of economic development and trade, said a decree to expand list of prohibited goods for import from Russia has been approved by the government.</p> <p>Springs for freight cars, electrical equipment for railway automation and communication devices were included in the sanctions list, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.</p> <p>Imports of glass containers, including jars, bottles for food and beverages and containers are also included in the list of prohibited goods for import from Russia.</p> <p>Russia and Ukraine have been at loggerheads since 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea after a controversial referendum.</p> <p>The Kiev administration has put in place various economic restrictions on Moscow since 2014.</p> <p> </p> <p>*Writing by Zehra Nur Duz
