LONDON (AA) – British far-right leader Tommy Robinson was arrested for assault over the weekend after getting into a fight at a local holiday resort, local media reported on Tuesday.

Robinson, 37, punched another man in the face during an argument near the pool at Center Parcs holiday village in Bedfordshire.

The victim required onsite treatment but did not have to go to hospital.

In a statement, the resort confirmed “that an incident occurred at Center Parcs Woburn Forest on Sunday afternoon to which the police attended.”

Local police said in a statement: “We were called at around 1.10pm on Saturday to a report of an altercation between two men at Center Parcs, Woburn Forest. One man sustained an injury to his face, and received first aid at the scene. A 37-year-old man from Bedford was arrested on suspicion of common assault and has been bailed until 2 April. An investigation is ongoing.”

In 2009 Robinson founded the English Defence League, an extreme right-wing, Islamophobic group.

He has been out of prison for less than six months, having served 66 days in prison after being judged to be in contempt of court.
