ANKARA (AA) – The UEFA on Wednesday gave Austria's Marko Arnautovic a one-match ban for insulting a player at EURO 2020.

The UEFA Appeals Body announced the decision after a disciplinary investigation was launched against Arnautovic for his alleged racist remarks toward North Macedonia's Ezgjan Alioski during Austria's 3-1 win in the Group C on Sunday.

He also made some hand gestures and shouted in his goal celebration before captain David Alaba stepped in to restrain him.

Following the match, Arnautovic apologized for his reaction but denied using racist language.

The 32-year-old forward will miss the game against the Netherlands on Thursday.
