Twelve PKK terrorists killed in southeast Turkey

ANKARA (AA) – Twelve PKK terrorists were killed during ongoing operations in two southeastern Turkish provinces Thursday, the Turkish military said Friday.

According to the Turkish General Staff’s statement released on its official website, six PKK terrorists were killed in Mardin province’s Nusaybin district, while six more were killed in Sirnak province.

Security forces also seized several explosive devices, machine gun bullets, Kalashnikov magazines, shotgun shells, rocket launcher ammunition, binoculars, a rucksack and a gas mask.

The PKK – also seen as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then, over 400 security personnel, including troops, police officers and village guards have been martyred and more than 3,700 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
