HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) – A civilian construction worker was killed Wednesday in a PKK missile attack in southeast Turkey, a security official said.

Terrorists fired a guided missile from the Iraqi side of the border at a bulldozer working in Hakkari province’s Semdinli district, the official said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

One worker was killed and another injured.

An anti-terror operation was launched to track down the attackers, the official added.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey, the U.S. and EU. In a 33-year terror campaign against Turkey more than 40,000 people have been killed.

Since the group resumed its armed campaign in July 2015, more than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives.
