Turkish stocks up over 1 pct at close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 1.02 percent to close at 94,570.90 points on Monday.

Starting the day at 93,568.15 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day with a 954.45-point hike from last week's close.

By market close, the U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.3350, up from 5.3410 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira rate stood at 6.1000, compared with 6.0930 at close on Friday.

The GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.8670 at close, while one British pound traded for 6.8840 Turkish liras at the previous close.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold was sold for $1,220.00 at close on Monday, up from $1,215.85 at Friday's close.

Hovering between $65.28 and $67.63 during the day, the price of Brent oil was around $66.30 per barrel as of 6.45 p.m. local time (1545GMT) Monday.
