Turkish stocks up 1.11 pct at midweek close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock surged 1.11 percent to close at 92,707.95 points on Wednesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 1,021.60 points from the previous close, as it started the midweek trading day at 92,021.50 points.

By market close, the USD/TRY exchange rate was 5.3180, down from Tuesday's close of 5.3650. The EUR/TRY rate was 6.0670, while one euro traded for 6.1250 liras at the previous close.

The British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.8170, while it was 6.8970 at close on Tuesday.

At daily close, the price of one ounce of gold was $1,224.25 in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, versus $1,224.50 at the previous close.

Hovering between $62.27 and $63.95 during the day, the price of Brent oil was around $63.45 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) Wednesday.
