Turkish stocks up 0.35% at open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index started Friday at 117,315.61 points, rising 0.35% or 407.84 points.

At Thursday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 1.38% at 116,907.77 points with a daily trading volume of 20.9 billion Turkish liras ($3.05 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.8550 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, unchanged from the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 7.7050 from 7.7320, and one British pound traded for 8.5730 Turkish liras, down from 8.5990 at Thursday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.79 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
