Turkish stocks start week up 0.13 pct

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week up 0.13 percent or 124.25 points to open at 93,908.43 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 1.81 percent and closed the day at 93,784.18 points with a daily trading volume of 7.11 billion Turkish liras ($1.26 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.5970 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, compared to 5.6410 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira rate was 6.2980, versus 6.3480 at Friday's close, and one British pound went for 7.3240 Turkish liras, compared to 7.3880.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $68.34 as of 10.20 a.m. local time (0720GMT) Monday.
