Turkish stocks start week looking up

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.18%, or 197.38 points, to start the week at 110,673.98 points on Monday.

On Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index went up 0.33% to 110,476.59 points with a daily trading volume of 12 billion Turkish liras ($2.1 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.8250 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, up from 5.8050 at last week's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.4900, versus 6.4860, and one British pound traded for 7.8160 Turkish liras, while it was 7.7550 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $65.08 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
