Turkish stocks start week looking down

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index was down 3.49%, or 3,341.25 points on Monday to start the week at 92,263.97 points.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up 2.1% at 95,605.22 points, with a daily trading volume of 9.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3410 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, versus 6.3100 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.0620, compared to 7.0220, and one British pound traded for 7.8480 Turkish liras. It was 7.9080 at the last week's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $31.90 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
