Turkish stocks open Friday 0.41% up

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index started the last business day of the week up 0.41% or 388.27 points to open at 94,886.81 points on Friday.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 1.71% to close at 94,498.54 points with a daily trading volume of 5.71 billion Turkish liras ($967 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.9690 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Friday, compared to 5.9470 at the last close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.6480, versus 6.6390 at Thursday's close, and one British pound was exchanged for 7.7180 Turkish liras, compared to 7.6820.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $74.12 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
