Turkish stocks looking down at Friday opening

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index opened at 1,413.18 points on Friday, dropping 0.24% or 3.37 points from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index was slightly down 0.09% to close Thursday at 1,416.55 points, with a daily trading volume of 15.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.94 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 8.1600 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), from 8.1530 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate decreased to 9.7000 from 9.7170, while one British pound traded for 11.2100 Turkish liras, down from 11.2530 at Thursday’s close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $63 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
