Turkish stocks flat at open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index started the week at 118,844.45 points on Monday, up 0.05%, or 58.36 points.

At Friday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.02% at 118,786.09 points with a daily trading volume of 17.06 billion Turkish liras ($2.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 6.8590 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, compared to 6.8680 at the last week's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 7.8600 from 7.8490 and one British pound traded for 8.6230 Turkish liras, down from 8.6510 at the Friday's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $42.70 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
