Turkish stocks fall 2 pct at close

By Tuba Sahin </p> <p>ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's BIST 100 fell by 2.04 percent to close Wednesday at 101,645.82 points.</p> <p>Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 104,338.99 points and lost 2,116.64 points from Tuesday's close of 103,762.46 points.</p> <p>The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 5.2560 at close, slightly down from 5.2600 at Tuesday's close.</p> <p>The euro/lira rate fell to 5.9360 at Wednesday's close, versus 5.9430 at the previous close.</p> <p>One British pound traded for 6.7860 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 6.7920 at close on Tuesday.</p> <p>In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold stood at $1,311.80 by market close, identical with the previous close.</p> <p>The price of Brent crude oil dropped to $63.59 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Wednesday, with a day range of $62.58 to $63.59.
