Turkish stocks end week with losses

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index went down 3.42 percent to close at 90,541.53 points on Friday.

Starting the day at 93,973.23 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index peaked at 94,036.49 points and ended the day with a 3,206.12-point fall from the previous close.

The BIST 100's daily trade volume was around 5.74 billion liras ($1.02 billion). As of daily close, the benchmark index had a total market value of nearly 592 billion liras ($104 billion).

On a weekly basis, the index saw a 6.13-percent decline, compared with last Friday's close of 96,454.57 points.

There will be no trading in stock exchange markets on Monday, Oct. 29, due to the country's Republic Day.

By market close, one dollar was traded for 5.6350 liras, as the USD/TRY exchange rate was 5.6490 at Thursday's close.

The euro/lira rate was 6.4030 at close on Friday, down from previous close of 6.4420.

One British pound was traded for 7.2120, while the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.2750 at the previous close.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold was sold for $1,234.00 at Friday's close, versus $1,231.50 at the previous close.

Hovering between $75.78 and $77.38 during Friday's trading, the price of Brent oil was around $77.41 per barrel as of 7 p.m. local time (1600GMT).

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $66 at the beginning of this year.
