IZMIR, Turkey (AA) – Teachers at a Turkish school in Izmir are planning to apply to the Guinness Book of World Records as they have 33 twins and one set of triplets studying there.

In the western province’s Buca district, there is an extraordinary school, Makbule Suleyman Alkan Secondary School, where an unusual number of twins and triplets are studying.

“When we started enrolling students we realized that we have 33 twins and one set of triplets in our school,” principal Bertan Cetin told reporters.

“We can register with the Guinness World Records numerically. Our provincial director of national education is supporting us. We will see our students in the record books,” he added.

One of the twins’ parents, Ozlem Guktekin said: “It would be great to register for the record books, both for Izmir and Turkey.”

The triplets’ mother, Zeliha Soysal, said: “All of my three kids are so successful. I'm proud of them. Sometimes it's hard to deal with three children of the same age but when they say ‘Mom’, I forget all of my problems.”
