ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s parliament speaker on Sunday issued a message marking the Christian holiday of Easter for Turkey’s Christian public as well as worldwide.

"I celebrate the Easter of the Christian world and our Christian citizens, which is one of their most important religious holidays," Mustafa Sentop said on Twitter.

"I hope such special days serve to further strengthen the unity and solidarity of our nation," he added.

For Christians, Easter Sunday marks the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth some 2,000 years ago.
