ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party Monday accused Turkey’s main opposition leader of “promoting anarchy”.

AK Party’s Deputy Chairman and Spokesman Mahir Unal responded to Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu’s remarks made at the end of a 25-day protest march from Ankara to Istanbul.

“Kilicdaroglu unfortunately offers anarchy to the society by making a call for uprising that targets our order and democracy, and disregards elections,” Unal said in a news conference at the party headquarters.

He added that Kilicdaroglu is playing “a dangerous game”.

“If you rely on 100,000 people going out on streets disregarding the will and votes of 25 million people, it is called fascism,” Unal said referring to Kilicdaroglu.

Unal added that Turkey is trying the coup plotters of July 15 2016 justly and democratically, however Kilicdaroglu is attempting to obstruct the trial.

On Sunday, Kilicdaroglu addressed a rally in Istanbul’s Maltepe district, which came on the final day of a 450 kilometers (280 miles) march from Ankara to Istanbul, protesting a judicial decision against one of his fellow party lawmakers.

Kilicdaroglu said at the rally that the end of their march is just a beginning, signaling new street protests. He also said they would not stop until their demands were met.

The march was launched on June 15 by Kilicdaroglu following the imprisonment of CHP lawmaker Enis Berberoglu, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Berberoglu was convicted of revealing state secrets by passing images to the Cumhuriyet newspaper concerning the search of National Intelligence Organization (MIT) trucks en route to Syria in January 2014.
