ANKARA (AA) – At least 4 PKK terrorists were killed in airstrikes carried out by Turkish jets in northern Iraq, the military said Tuesday.

The operation was launched Tuesday morning on the PKK targets in northern Iraq’s Sinat and Haftanin regions, the General Staff said, adding the jets also destroyed shelters and two weapon emplacements belonging to the terror group.

Turkey’s military carries out frequent air operations in northern Iraq against the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have been killed since the PKK resumed its armed campaign in July 2015.
