ANKARA (AA) – Thirteen PKK terrorists were killed in an air operation on Saturday in eastern Turkey, the military said.

In a statement, the Turkish General Staff said the air operation took place in the Mount Tendurek region between the eastern Agri and Van provinces between 3.07 a.m. and 3.16 a.m local time (0007-0016GMT).

Fighter jets belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces carried out three airstrikes in total, the military added.

The PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU — resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year.

Since then, more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists killed.
