ANKARA (AA) – Security forces killed three PKK terrorists in southeastern Hakkari province, Turkish General Staff said Friday.

The terrorists were killed in gunbattle with security forces on Thursday. Weapons were seized from the terrorists, said the army.

Also on Thursday, two suspected terrorists were arrested and weapons including a rifle, a pistol, and 90 gas masks were seized in southeastern Diyarbakir province.

A PKK terrorist was arrested in Guclukonak district of Sirnak province in the same region by the security forces.

The forces destroyed 1.5 kilograms (3 pounds) of ammonium nitrate in southeastern Mus province, and three improvised explosives in Diyarbakir.

More than 1,200 people, including security personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU — resumed its decades-long armed campaign in July 2015.
