ADANA, Turkey (AA) – Turkish forces on Friday arrested a PKK terrorist, who was plotting a bombing, and seized 35.6 kilograms (78.6 pounds) of explosives in his possession.

The terrorist identified by the initials B.K. was in possession of a temporary I.D. which belonged to a Syrian man.

He had rented an apartment in the Yuregir district of Turkey's southern province of Adana.

In a raid at his residence, €8,500 ($10,128), 1,900 Turkish liras ($259) and gold necklaces were found.

The terrorist had buried explosives underground.

Six other suspects were arrested earlier on similar charges.

Of them, five suspects, including four Syrian nationals, were nabbed in an operation in the southern provinces of Mardin and Batman. They had facilitated B.K.'s arrival in Turkey.

Another suspect was arrested for aiding and abetting the terrorist's activities in Adana, including finding him an apartment.

Turkey has launched several counter-terrorist military operations in recent years, especially against the YPG/PKK, which has tried to use northern Iraq and northern Syria as cross-border terrorist bases against Turkey.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the European Union — has been responsible for the deaths of nearly 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian branch.
