Turkish chess player comes 2nd in world schools c'ship

ANKARA (AA) – A Turkish teen chess player, Isik Can became runner-up in the ISF World Schools Championship Online Chess 2020, Turkey's chess body said on Monday.

In a statement, the Turkish Chess Federation (TSF) said that Can, 15, had 7 points to come in second in the under-17 male category.

Armenian player Albert Gevorgyan was the winner of this category with 8 points.

Separately, 15-year-old Turkish player Nil Ozturk ended the female's contest taking the 20th spot with 4.5 points last weekend.

The chess body congratulated Turkish athletes for their efforts.

The ISF World Schools Championship Online Chess 2020 was held on Oct. 3 through Oct. 25 with the finals.
