Turkish athletes win 68 medals over past week

ISTANBUL (AA) – Athletes representing Turkey bagged 68 medals, including 18 gold, in international sporting events over the past week.

Turkish athletes claimed 5 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals in karate in the Karate 1 Series A competition in Chile.

Turks won 2 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals in athletics in the Comegym Mediterranean Juniors Championships in Tunisia; 2 gold and 3 bronze medals in wrestling in Junior World Wrestling Championship in Slovakia, and 1 gold and 2 bronze medals in taekwondo in World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) Grand Prix in Taoyuan, Taiwan.

Turkish athletes also won 5 gold, 9 silver and 15 bronze medals in kickboxing at WAKO Kickboxing Junior and Cadet World Championships; 2 gold and 1 bronze medals in fencing championships in Romania and Bulgaria; 1 gold medal in ice dancing in Challenge Cup in Philadelphia, the U.S.; 2 bronze medals in Bocce at the European Women Championships in Italy, and 1 bronze medal in Judo at World Judo Championships in Azerbaijan.
