ANKARA (AA) – Turkish artillery and coalition airstrikes hit 68 Daesh targets in northern Syria on Monday, a Turkish military source said.

Katyusha rocket launchers being prepared to fire into Turkey were among the targets hit by Firtina howitzers, the source said on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to media.

Meanwhile, the General Staff said airstrikes were carried out Sunday in the Metina region of northern Iraq and in Cukurca, a district of Turkey’s southeastern Hakkari province. The Turkish Air Force regularly launches attacks on PKK terrorists in both areas.

The PKK — listed as a terrorist organization also by Turkey, the U.S., and EU — resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015, since when around 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 5,000 PKK terrorists killed.
