Turkish army 'neutralizes' 2 PKK terrorists

HAKKARI, Turkey (AA) – At least two PKK terrorists were neutralized in Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province, said the provincial governor’s office on Monday.

Turkish authorities use the word “neutralized ” to signify the terrorists in question either surrendered, or were killed or captured.

In a statement, the governor's office said one of the terrorist was neutralized in a drone strike carried out in rural areas of Hakkari on July 7 at 1.30 p.m. local time (1030 GMT).

During search and sweep operations in the region, the gendarmerie and special forces neutralized another terrorist on the same day.

Counter-terror operations against PKK are ongoing in the region, added the statement.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU.
