CAIRO (AA) – A Turkish Airlines passenger plane had to make an emergency landing at Cairo International Airport Wednesday in order to save an ailing passenger’s life, according to an Egyptian security source at the airport.

“The pilot of a Turkish Airlines plane flying from Riyadh to Istanbul requested to make an emergency landing at Cairo airport to save a female Pakistani passenger who suffered a sudden health problem,” the source, who spoke to Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to media, said.

Once the plane received permission to land, an ambulance took the ill passenger to a nearby hospital in Cairo for treatment while the plane resumed its flight to Istanbul, the source added.
