Turkish aid agency renovates 3 schools in northern Iraq

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s state aid agency has renovated three schools in northern Iraq, the agency announced in a statement on Thursday.

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) said in a statement that it had completed the renovation of a primary, secondary, and high school in Tal Afar, a city in northern Iraq which has suffered damage in terrorist Daesh attacks.

The agency said the work on the Al-Zahed Secondary School included repairing its walls and renovating its classrooms as well as a fresh coat of paint.

A ceremony marking completion of the renovation was attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Baghdad Fatih Yildiz, Tal Afar Education Director Muhammad Ibrahim, officials from TIKA, as well as teachers, students, and parents.

Yildiz thanked Turkey for supporting the ethnic Turkmen population of northern Iraq.
