Turkey's industrial production up 6.4 pct in May

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's industrial production surged 6.4 percent in May, compared with the same month last year, statistical authority TurkStat announced on Tuesday.

Among all manufacturing indices, the highest increase year-on-year was recorded in high technology products with a 12.2-percent hike, official data showed.

On a monthly basis, the country's total industrial output fell 1.6 percent in May, compared with April, the institute noted.

According to TurkStat, the purpose of calculating monthly industrial production index is to measure the evolution of economy and the positive and negative effects of economical political decisions in the short term.
