Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul up at opening

ANKARA (AA) – The BIST 100 rose 0.20 percent — 220.55 points — on Thursday, opening at 108,935.13 points.

The banking and holding sector indices rose by 0.15 and 0.20 percent, respectively.

Among all sectors, the construction index was the best performer with a 1.06 percent rise, while the wood, paper, printing index started the day with the biggest decline, falling by 0.29 percent.

The market closed at 108,714.58 points on Wednesday after decreasing 0.84 percent during the day.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 3.5420 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Thursday, compared to 3.5420 at Wednesday’s close.
