Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul up at opening

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index started the day with a 186.71-point or 0.18 percent rise to open at 105,362.44 points on Monday.

The banking and holding sector indices rose by 0.03 and 0.20 percent, respectively.

Among all sectors, the investment trust sector index was the best performer with a 1.11 percent rise, while the mining sector index started the day with the biggest decline, falling 2.07 percent.

On Friday’s close, the BIST 100 was up 965.51 points or 0.93 percent to reach 105,175.73 points, with a total trading volume of 4.1 billion Turkish liras (approximately $1.16 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 3.5420 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, compared with 3.5360 at Friday’s close.
