ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.22% or 208.87 points to open at 96,351.05 points on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased by 0.20% to close the day at 96,142.18 points with a daily trading volume of 5.44 billion Turkish liras ($927 million).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.8930 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Wednesday's closing rate of 5.8850.
The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 6.5830, versus 6.5900 at the previous close.
One British pound traded for 7.6170 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.6300 at market close on Wednesday.
The price of Brent oil was around $74.90 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Thursday.
On Thursday, Central Bank of Turkey will hold the third Monetary Policy Committee meeting of 2019 to determine the interest rates.
