Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at open

By Gokhan Ergocun</p> <p>ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.87 percent or 791.06 points to open at 91,793.23 points on Thursday.</p> <p>On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.19 percent to close the day at 91,002.17 points with a daily trading volume of 1.6 billion Turkish liras ($310.7 million). </p> <p>The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.2970 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Wednesday's closing rate of 5.2840.</p> <p>The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 6.0390, versus 6.0190 at the last close. One British pound traded for 6.7180 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.7130 by market close on Wednesday. </p> <p>The price of Brent oil increased rapidly to $54.47 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Thursday, versus $51.73 on Wednesday's closing.
