Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up at midweek's open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.12% or 142.19 points on Wednesday to start the midweek at 119,940.00 points.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1.23% to 119,797.82 points with a daily trading volume of 14.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.0320 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Wednesday, compared to Tuesday's closing rate of 6.0250.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.5830, versus 6.5720, and one British pound was traded for 7.8320 Turkish liras. It was 7.8260 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $55.00 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Wednesday.
