Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 0.59% at Thursday opening

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index was up 0.59%, or 634.21 points, to start Thursday at 108,555.89 points.

On Wednesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.08% to 107,921.68 points with a daily trading volume of 7.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.8030 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared to 5.8070 at Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.4690, versus 6.4410, and one British pound traded for 7.6820 Turkish liras, while it was 7.6670 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $64.00 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Thursday.
