Turkey's Borsa Istanbul up 0.51% at opening

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.51% or 485.22 points to open at 95,676.89 points on Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped by 0.82% to close the day at 95,191.67 points with a daily trading volume of 4.5 billion Turkish liras ($770 million).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose slightly to 5.8130 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to Monday's closing rate of 5.8080.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also rose to 6.5760, versus 6.5680 at the previous close.

One British pound traded for 7.6270 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.6310 at market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil was around $70.90 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Tuesday.
