Turkey's Borsa Istanbul stocks up at open

ISTANBUL (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose slightly by 0.20% or 195.53 points to open Monday at 98,978.89 points.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased by 0.45% to close the week at 98,783.36 points with a daily trading volume of 8.4 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 5.6390 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 5.5980 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also increased to 6.3370, versus 6.2910 at the last week's close.

One British pound traded for 7.3780 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 7.2920 at market close on Friday.

The price of Brent oil was around $70.60 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
