Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul flat at opening

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey’s benchmark stock index started the day with a 91.75-point or 0.08 percent increase to open at 108,964.74 points on Wednesday.

The banking sector index rose 0.14 percent while the holding sector index dropped 0.02 percent.

Among all sectors, the mining sector index was the best performer, up 0.69 percent, while the insurance sector index started the day with the biggest fall, losing 0.51 percent.

Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed Tuesday down 1,137.50 points or 1.03 percent to stand at 108,872.99 points.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate slightly increased to 3.4380 at 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Wednesday, compared to 3.4330 at Tuesday’s close.
