Turkey's Borsa Istanbul ends day with gains

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 2.83 percent to close at 93,866.94 points with a trading volume of 7.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.13 billion) on Tuesday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day with a 2,582.90-point hike from Monday's close of 91,284.04 points, while it started the day at 91,274.50 points.

One U.S. dollar traded for 6.2320 Turkish liras as of 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT), up from 6.1870 at Monday's close.

The euro/lira exchange rate was 7.3050 by market close, versus 7.2110 at the previous close, and one British pound traded for 8.0470 Turkish liras, while the GBP/TRY rate was 7.9600 at Monday's close.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold traded for $1,210.35 as of 4.30 p.m. local time (1330GMT) Tuesday, up from $1,203 at the previous close.

As of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the price of Brent oil stood at $76.58 per barrel — hovering between $76.32 and $77.23 during the day — climbing from around $66 at the beginning of 2018.
