ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.44 percent or 450.76 points to open at 102,899.19 points on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 0.19 percent to close the day at 102,448.42 points with a daily trading volume of 7.99 billion Turkish liras ($1.53 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.2100 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Tuesday's closing rate of 5.2080.
The euro/lira exchange rate was 5.9390, versus 5.9570 at the previous close. One British pound was exchanged for 6.76300 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY was 6.7700 by market close on Tuesday.
The price of Brent oil was around $61.79 per barrel as of 10.30 a.m. local time (0730GMT) Wednesday.
