Turkey's benchmark stock index up at close

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index on Wednesday went up 0.22 percent to close at 90,200.71 points.

Starting the day at 90,444.83 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the day with a 200.81-point hike from Tuesday's close.

By market close, one dollar was traded for 5.5450 liras, as the USD/TRY exchange rate was 5.4740 at Tuesday's close.

The euro/lira rate was 6.2780 at close on Wednesday, up from previous close of 6.2290.

One British pound was traded for 7.0870, while the GBP/TRY exchange rate was 6.9980 at the previous close.

In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold was sold for $1,217.90 at Wednesday's close, versus $1,223.30 at the previous close.

Hovering between $75.51 and $77.12 during the day, the price of Brent oil was around $76.07 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) Wednesday.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $66 at the beginning of this year.
