Turkey's benchmark stock index up 0.50 at open

ANKARA (AA) – Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.50 percent or 510.05 points to open at 102,765.06 points on Tuesday.

On Monday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 0.66 percent to close the day at 102,255.01 points with a daily trading volume of 5.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.1 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.2180 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Monday's closing rate of 5.2190.

The euro/lira exchange rate was 5.9690, versus 5.9780 at the last close. One British pound was exchanged for 6.8220 Turkish liras, as the GBP/TRY was 6.8290 by market close on Monday.

The price of Brent oil was around $62.73 per barrel as of 09.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday.
